President Mike Markovitz brought the meeting to order at 12:15 PM at Purkey’s Pink Apple with Mary Tempest leading the Pledge of Allegiance and Lou Divis giving the Invocation.

Youth Exchange Scholarship Fund Auction/Raffle
 
Announcement from Anne Sehne to solicit any items that can be donated for this weekend's (January 12th !)  Essex Rotary Youth Exchange Scholarship Fund Auction / Raffle.
 
Rotarians bring all kinds of items that will either be used in the silent auction or the ticket sales raffle. Please consider making a donation and Anne will pick up all items on Thursday January 10th at the Noon Meeting. Every item gets taken and the money is added to the scholarship fund. Thank you.   These donations for the Auction / Raffle can be Everything / Anything from alcohol to clothing, to gifts that they may have purchased that they no longer want, anything rotary, books, hotels, restaurants, any kind of gift card. You name it they'll auction or sell it.
 
Please have any donations / items / etc for this event at the Noon- Jan 10th Tunkhannock Rotary Meeting. 
 
Jan Board of Directors Meeting
 
The upcoming Board of Directors Meeting for January 15th will be held at the Pink Apple – Back Room from 7:30-8:30am instead of Towne and Country Restaurant (Closed for at least 2 months / moving). 
 
Induction of New Member – Membership Chair Ron Furman
 
Club Membership Chair Ron Furman inducted Chelsea English into the Tunkhannock Rotary.  Chelsea was sponsored by Ron Furman.  Chelsea is the marketing manager at SERVPRO of Kingston, Pittston City and Wyoming County. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Corporate Communications from The Pennsylvania State University Wilkes-Barre Campus.

Committee Reports
 
Fellowship Committee – Ann Way / Tom Kukuchka
 
We have scheduled our Annual Holiday / Wine Festival Party (Rotary / Kiwanis / and Wine Fest Team)  for next Saturday, January 12, 2019. $30 per person.  It will be held at the Shadowbrook Resort from 5:30 - 9:00pm. We will have some social time followed by a buffet dinner. If the weather cooperates, we will have some entertainment following our meal by Jim Welch and fellow musicians.
 
Exchange Student Report: 
 
Both boys enjoyed the holidays.  Andrew is now a programmer for Robotics.
 
There will be an exchange meeting in Towanda on Feb 2nd.

Our next Meeting will be Thursday, Jan 10. Our guest speaker will be Elizabeth DeMarco, who will talk about her short-term exchange to Ecuador.
 
Prior to adjournment, Mary Tempest led the recitation of the 4-Way Test by the attendees.
 
President Mike Markovitz adjourned the meeting at 1:30 PM.

Wyoming County Active Adult Center
 
The center has a large variety of activities for seniors including: cards, games, parties, crafts and theater visits.  They also sponsor many health and wellness programs such as: exercise classes, info on homebound services, nursing services and foster grandparents’ programs.  They regularly sponsor speakers of interest to seniors and have newsletter. They can also help with senior employment.
 
After the presentation, the Center's representatives were presented with a check for $1,000 to help with their support for seniors in our community.
