President Samantha Maruzzelli brought the meeting to order at 12:15 PM at Purkey’s Pink Apple with Mike Markovitz reciting the 4-Way Test and leading the Pledge of Allegiance and Dave Wilson giving the Invocation.

District needs people to judge the District Essay contest. Let Pres. Samantha know if you are interested.
Volunteers are needed for our Rotary food backpack committee to apply for a District Grant to help support this new program that will provide food for the weekend to elementary school students in need. Let Pres. Samantha know if you are interested.
March is colon cancer awareness month so wear something blue.

Harvest & Wine Festival – Ron Furman
The next Harvest & Wine Festival Committee meeting is 6:00 PM on Monday, March 5 at the Tunkhannock Public Library.
Drug Take Back – Frank Oliver
The next national Drug Take Back event is scheduled for Sat Apr 28. Frank will contact the DA’s office to make sure Wyo Cty will participate and report back next week.
Exchange Students
Nico – he went to the District diving event last week and there will be a District swimming event Fri and Sat. Ann Way took them to get an inoculation and to Antonio’s for pizza.
Vito - Last week they had a basketball playoff game and they lost but he had a good time. He will be starting to practice tennis this week. He enjoyed the pizza with Ann.
Essay Contest Winners – Chair Terry Furman
This year’s District essay contest was open to both Juniors and Seniors. The topic was “Making a difference”. From the entered essays, the top 3 were selected by the Tunkhannock Essay Committee to receive awards at today’s meeting. The Club 1st place winner was entered into the District 7410 Essay Contest.
Terry then introduced each of the winners and asked them to read their essays to the club. She also presented each winner with a cash award for their winning entries.
Sarah Seward – 3rd place Club essay contest winner. Sarah plans to become a pharmacist and works at a senior living center.
Jessica Ell – 2nd place Club essay contest winner. Jessica plans to get a civil engineering degree. She was a short term exchange student to Italy.
Leah Rome - 1st place Club essay contest winner. Leah did a mission to Haiti last summer through the Methodist Church. She just returned in Feb from a mission trip to Honduras.

Guest Speaker:
Victims Resource Center (VRC) has helped 295 victims and their families in Wyoming County from July to Dec 2017. They presented 50 prevention programs to kids in school.
They have started a Medical Advocacy project to teach emergency/law enforcement personnel how to screen for domestic violence and to supply them with options as to what the individual can do. VRC is also starting a support group for domestic violence victims.
The VRC Geranium sale is coming up with the flowers to be available the Tuesday before Mother’s Day. They will begin taking orders next month and Sandy Lane will have the sign up sheet if you are interested in helping VRC by buying geraniums.
After Janet’s brief presentation, Pres. Samantha Maruzzelli presented Janet with a check for $1,000 to support the Victims Resource Center.
