Secretary’s Notes!
Sorry that the publication of this bulletin has been so delayed, but my life has gotten in the way. Several additional bulletins will be forthcoming to bring us up to date no later than May 26. So, you will be receiving several bulletins over the next few days.
Rotary Facts:
Paul Harris suggested the name “Rotary” because meetings were rotated from office-to-office. In 1912, the name changed to International Association of Rotary Clubs to reflect the addition of clubs in other countries. The name Rotary International was adopted in 1922.
Pledge and Invocation:
President Samantha Maruzzelli brought the meeting to order at 12:15 PM at Purkey’s Pink Apple with Jim Welch reciting the 4-Way Test and leading the Pledge of Allegiance and Dave Wilson giving the Invocation. Tom Kukuchka was today’s greeter.

Former Exchange Student – Dave Wilson
Dave Wilson hear from former exchange student Rodrigo from Peru that he made a donation to the clean-up day event at the Tunkhannock High School.
President’s Messages
May 10 is the Rotary Relays, make up day is May 11. There will be no lunch meeting on May 10. Volunteers please notify Rod Azar, if you want to volunteer. We also need sponsors. It is $100 for sponsorship and your logo will go on the t-shirt. The current design was passed around for people to see their logo on the design.
There will be a Flash meeting at Shadowbrook tonight with a prospective new member planning to attend.
Drug Take Back – Frank Oliver
DA Mitchell announced today that 297 lbs of drugs were collected, so it was a huge success. Annette Chickey, Cammie Anderson and Francine Kanyok did the greetings at the pharmacies, explained to people what to do, and made sure the drugs were securely collected.
CIA Trip – Tom Kukuchka
Still $49 to be paid per person. The final check needs to go to AAA soon. We will be assigned to 3 different restaurants. CIA wants us there at 3:30 with the tour at 5 PM. Therefore, there will be time to go through the book store. The bus will leave at 7 AM sharp from the Triton.
Trail Golf Tournament
The Trail Golf Tournament Monday June 4, if we want to enter a team.
Exchange Students - Anne Sehne
Nico, Anika and Anne went to Dallas Rotary and Nico did his presentation for them.
This Sat is the District Assembly and Anne will talk about exchange.
The students are invited to the Wyalusing Clay Shoot this Sun.
The Railriders Game is May 12, if anyone wants to go.
Montrose Rotary
Montrose Rotary is disbanding.
Our next Meeting will be Thursday, May 17, which will be a Club Assembly.
President Samantha Maruzzelli adjourned the meeting at 1:30 PM.

Inbound Exchange Student
Nico is 17 yr old from France. He has a 20 yr old sister.
He talked about Paris, the capital of France and showed photos of key landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe.
France is famous for wine, bread, cheese and croissants, in addition to other foods. Each part of France has different varieties of wine, bread and cheese.
There are a lot of regional specialty foods. He is from Limoges near Boudreaux (2 hr), which is famous for red wine.
Versailles has beautiful gardens, which he has never visited.
He also showed photos of the Louvre, which he has never visited.
His hometown of Limoges is a medium size town and known for porcelain, cathedrals and gardens. It has a beautiful train station. They also have a porcelain museum in the town.
While on his exchange year he has been to NYC, Washington DC, Boston, Philly, and will be going to Texas soon.
After his presentation, Pres. Samantha presented him with a book on PA signed by many Rotarians. As similar signed book was presented to Vitto after his presentation at our last Rotary meeting.
