Guest Speaker:
Paul DeMarco
Outbound Exchange Student to Brazil

Paul is going to Brazil next week. He gave the presentation that he will give in Portuguese in Brazil. He showed photos of Tunkhannock and his family. His mother and grandfather were in attendance and his dad is Chris. He has 3 sisters and 1 brother.

Paul plays baseball, soccer and basketball and plays saxophone in a jazz band. He was Valedictorian of his graduating class.

Brazil’s capitol is Brasilia and the largest city is Sao Paulo. The language is Portuguese.  Brazil borders all South American countries, but Chile and Ecuador. He is going to Recife on northeastern most point of Brazil.  Closest large city is Natal.  It is warm all year round and humid.

They play soccer in Brazil and he will play some sports.

Recife is on the beach on the coast.  His host family will include host brother Vitor and host sister Julia (who is coming on exchange to Granby Colorado). Alicia is his host mother and Jose, the father. Their house is right on the beach, with a great view of the beach. They also have a vacation home 1 hr north of Recife, also on the bay.

He will go to a private school 40 min from the house in Recife.  Due to the being in the Southern Hemisphere, he will start school for the second semester in Aug, most likely as a Junior.  He will be there for the whole summer and then maybe do the first semester at the end as a Senior. He will have a uniform top with jeans.

Paul has been accepted to the University of Notre Dame and they have agreed to delaying his college entry until Sept 2019.  Once he returns from Brazil in June, he will be home for the summer and then head off to Notre Dame. He plans to study mechanical engineering.
