There will be a Board of Directors meeting on Tuesday, Aug 21 at 7:30 AM at Towne and Country Grille.

Annual dues of $135 are now due, so please pay ASAP. Make check payable to Tunkhannock Rotary.

It was a very nice picnic at Ron’s cabin on Sunday.  32 people were in attendance and no one lost a fender or muffler on their way up the mountain (at least that they would admit to).

Due to the Flooding in Lazybrook Park, the Sat August 18th Interfaith Day of Sharing was cancelled and is not planned to be re-scheduled this year.  Thus, we will not be selling Wine Festival Tickets on Saturday and we will not need volunteers to man the Rotary Table / Booth at the event.

Community Announcements

HANDS of Wyoming County has relocated and is having an Open House on Thursday August 23rd at the Former Mehoopany Elementary School at 1687 Scottsville Road, Mehoopany, PA 18629. It will be from 5pm – 7pm. Tunkhannock Rotarians are welcome to attend.  Jim Welch and his musician friends will be providing some music as people tour the new facility.

Highlights from Aug 31st Board Of Directors Meeting:

Normally Club Assembly is after the most recent BOD meeting, however we had to move things around as our speaker for next week is only available Thursday Aug. 23rd.

We have already gone over most of last month’s board meeting in one way or another since then.  However, there are a couple items that haven’t been mentioned:
  • Board received a Donation request from Camp Create and after reviewing, voted to donate $500 to the Camp.
  • It was mentioned as a consideration (similar to what we do for Tunkhannock Ambulance) to give an annual $500 donation to the Triton Fire Company since they provide us with tent / tables / chairs for Rotary Relays, allow us to use their facility during fireworks / provides fire protection during fireworks etc  (at no cost to Rotary).
Are there any items the Club would like seen added to / considered in the budget that will be completed / approved soon? If you have any items, please let Pres. Mike know before the Sept Board meeting.

John Hovan suggested we consider a donation to Operation Smile to honor the girls softball team.

Our next Meeting will be Thursday, Aug 16. Our speaker will be David Ide, who will talk about a possible Community Center in Tunkhannock.

President Mike Markovitz adjourned the meeting at 1:30 PM.
