Ransom Paid for Gavel-napped President's Gavel

When it was time for Past President Ann to pass the president’s gavel to Pres. Sam, the ceremony was delayed by the gavel-napper of Ann’s President’s gavel. Several weeks ago, in a long standing tradition in our Club, Ann's gavel was gavel-napped right from under her protection.  The gavel-napper demanded a ransom for the gavel, requesting that Pres. Ann pass the basket for donations, which would go to the Rotary Foundation. $126 was collected, which satisfied the ransom demand. So, her engraved gavel was returned to Ann as a permanent reminder of her year as President.

Now, it will be interesting to see how long President Samantha can hang onto her gavel.
