Guest Speaker:
Mike Donahue
Wyo Cty Human Services, Executive Director

Mike is originally from Jenningsville, PA. His early years in a very large family helped him deal with life events with reason and common sense.

He has overseen 29 different drug and alcohol programs and many human services programs in many localities. He was chief of Drug & Alcohol and Human Services in Luzerne County and is responsible for Cammie Anderson being assigned to TASD 26 years ago.

He wanted to come back home to Wyo Cty, so he jumped at the chance to take over Wyo Cty Human Services.  The drug epidemic in Wyo Cty is just as severe as in Luzerne and other counties.  These are our kids and we are losing them to drug deaths.  Almost 90% of Children & Youth placements are drug related.  Mental health is exacerbating the drug epidemic through self-medication.

Senior citizens are ones to which legal opioids are being prescribed in large amounts. We really need more senior centers in Wyo Cty.

Aging, transportation and our society being affected by substance use disorder.

He will not be the Wyo Cty Children & Youth Administrator. He will go after a Human services block grant and pay Luzerne county for their services. $1.4 million will come to Wyo Cty for human services for drug & alcohol, mental health and housing programs.

They also got approval for a Children & Youth Administrator with human service oversight. Human Services reports to the County Commissioners.

His goal to make Wyo Cty a model for human services for all of PA and he wants a wellness center for this County.

Oct 12 Rotary Pre-Festival Meeting at Lazybrook Park

President Samantha called the meeting to order at 12:15 and reminded everyone that there is a Board of Director's meeting on Tuesday Oct 17 at Towne and Country Grille and that our meeting on Oct 19 will be a Club Assembly.

President Samantha then turned the meeting over to Harvest & Wine Festival Chair Ron Furman.  Ron reviewed all the work assignments for Saturday's Festival and the various policies that we have regarding what Festival attendees can bring on site.

Ann Way reviewed the current status of ticket orders which were over 3,000.

Sandy Lane reported that the t-shirts were shipped to her, but had not yet arrived, so members will get them on Saturday morning.

After a club provided lunch from Antonio's Pizzeria and Restaurant, those signed up to help with set-up went back to work getting the site ready for Saturday's Festival.
