Katherine Pohlidal, Director of Misericordia University’s Ruth Matthews Bourger Women with Children (WWC) Program was a guest speaker at the Dec 14 Tunkhannock Rotary Luncheon at Purkey’s Pink Apple. Katherine described the WWC program, which empowers economically disadvantaged single women and their children to realize their full potential through higher education.
Two of the women currently in the WWC program, Caitlyn Thomas and Regina Croto, related their own experiences in the program and the significant differences it has made in their lives and that of their children. They both acknowledged the tremendous support that they have received from the staff and from the other women in the program.
To help ensure that they have a great holiday, Tunkhannock Rotary President Samantha Maruzzelli presented them with a check for $500 to buy gifts for the children of the WWC participants.
