John Fabiseski and Judge David Plummer Spoke at Mar 9 Rotary Luncheon

The guest speakers at our Mar 9 Tunkhannock Rotary Club meeting at Purkey's Pink Apple were John Fabiseski, a Certified Recovery Counselor, and Judge David Plummer. 

 

John spoke about the Wyoming County Young People in Recovery (YPR) program that is trying to get purpose back into young people’s lives. YPR are working with the Tunkhannock School District and Children and Youth to help young people in Wyo Cty recover from substance abuse disorder.  They are working in partnership with the Dietrich Theater to screen the movie Generation Found, a movie about rehabilitation. They also hope to work with the juvenile system to help young substance abusers.

Judge David Plummer is trained in Treatment Court and pointed out that it is a post-conviction opportunity, so a felony will go on the person's record. He is hoping that will change.

 

He indicated that most first time young substance abuse offenders get criminal charges, but if they are incarcerated depends on whether they are judged to be a danger to themselves or others.
