At the Aug 24 Rotary Luncheon, District Attorney (DA) Jeff Mitchell talked about the Drug Take Back (DTB) Program in Wyoming County. DA Mitchell commented that the Drug Take Back Events in Wyoming County have been in operation for the last 7-8 year.  Over that time, 2,300 lbs. of drugs have been collected for proper disposal. He acknowledged the outstanding help of the Tunkhannock Rotary in promoting this event through proactive community outreach. He thanked the club for their outstanding efforts in this regard and asked for our continued support for this endeavor.

He also mentioned the 3 permanent drug collections boxes that are in the Wyo Cty courthouse, the Tunkhannock Borough and Township Police Departments. These boxes are available for individuals to drop of drugs between the semi-annual DTB events.

DA Mitchell will be a speaker at the Not One More Drug Rally at Lazybrook Park on Sept 9 and speaking about the drug issues in our County. He will be asking people to spread the word about the mental health issues that lead to drug abuse to help garner support for more mental health services locally. He will also have a drug drop box at the Rally if anyone wants to drop off drugs prior to the next Drug Take Back Event on Sat Oct 28.
