Three of the 6 Tunkhannock Area juniors that attended the 2016 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Conference shared their experiences at our Rotary Meeting on Apr 20 at Purkey's Pink Apple. Quinlan Hammersley, Laina Rominski and Alexandra Falzone had shown leadership potential in their home, school, and community and thus were selected to attend RYLA.

RYLA emphasizes leadership, citizenship, and personal growth and it was clear that goal was achieved by these students. They were confident, calm and well- prepared for their talks. In addition, 1 of the students commented that she had learned to come out of her shell because of the conference.

They expressed their delight at meeting 80 fellow-attendees and making new friendships that have continued beyond the conference. Laina enjoyed RYLA so much that she is going back this year as a Junior Counselor.
